Liberty Street Kitchen is a casual bistro celebrating modern rural living and offering contemporary comfort cuisine with a local focus. The menu showcases refined salads, entrées, sandwiches and more alongside signature cocktails, craft beer and a thoughtful wine list. Featuring a comfortably elegant dining room, bustling bar and robust private dining capabilities, Liberty Street Kitchen is Pella’s gathering place for residents and visitors alike.


Alex Gabrielson / Executive Chef

Chef Alex leads the culinary team and directs back-of-house operations. A native of Belmond in north central Iowa, Chef Alex attended culinary school in Chicago, returning to Iowa and working in leading kitchens around the Des Moines metro before joining the Liberty Street Kitchen team in 2019. Outside of the kitchen, Alex enjoys spending time with family in Pella, cheering for Chicago sports teams and local league bowling.


Mike Roederer / General Manager

Mike’s career in the hospitality industry has spanned over 25 years, ranging from his start as a donut maker at the age of 14 to managing one of Iowa’s most acclaimed restaurants. As a member of Liberty Street Kitchen’s opening team, Mike is a fixture of the restaurant, leading the front-of-house team and guiding the guest experience. Mike is a huge sports fan, and when he’s not in the restaurant you might find him watching the latest blockbuster at a local theater.
